You could use it as a writing desk if that middle piece slides out for a suitable surface for writing. Lay a thick piece of cork over the top without adhering it and use it for notes or photos. The bottom could hold two baskets for storing whatever floats your boat. You could also have a box store cut two pieces of wood that could be placed in the top area, again do not adhere - no need. Paint or stain first. The add hooks as suggested but put in the foyer to hold keys. The bottom spot could be a space to stash a few pocketbooks/ daily items like baseball caps that you may want to switch out but not go in your upstairs closet to retrieve. Last but not least, place this in a living room. Open the doors and lay a large and small framed photos of what is meaningful to you. The pull out could hold a few violets. The bottom, again baskets for storage.

It would make a great easel for art because of the overhead light and then I would pull out the drawer and use it to display a collection ( for example a trinket box collection ) This beautiful piece can be used in just about any room in the home. What a lovely keepsake. Click on picture to enlarge.
