The Fridge...WHY?????

This kitchen is STUNNING to say the least. And you can tell that they care enough to use the best and would not put so much thought and love into a space you know they intend to entertain in and then go and use a side by side. From experience I know that is not a good idea. I have switched to a three door because of space issues. I can put so many more platters and large items in there and not worry about stacking and spillage. As far as I can tell that is the only thing I don't like in this kitchen. I love a light and bright kitchen with the dark island.....My very favorite. I had to knock out all the walls in my house surrounding my kitchen so I could have light and not be closed away.

just to add, we are doing the same thing and I think Side by side is perfect and we have put A LOT of thought into the design, we have a fridge in the basement so the whole "platter" issue is solved. This is your opinion and seems to be the norm these days, but I frankly don't enjoy stacking food in the freezer on top of each other, or bending down to get it every single time. Your solution is only good for platters and nothing else.

Large platters are definitely something to think about. Thanks for the tip. Some people still prefer the configuration of a side-by-side and the ease of access to the freezer. No doubt, a lot of thought went into this space - I love the clerestory windows! :) Rhoda

okay then, how about an extra large Viking or Professional Kitchen Refrigerator. Would one of those fit in this Kitchen. I am trying to see if something like that would work because I would really like to mimic this Kitchen as close as possible. You all pretty much nailed what I want except the paint colors and the Refrigerator.

We are creating a new kitchen and will be using a side by side as well. We just like the ease of opening one refrigerator door and not two!

Same here. Side-by-side in the kitchen and we have a large pantry with an extra freezer-top frig. I entertain and use that for my extra food and platter storage. Works great!

this side by side is probably 42" and solves the problem of those awful bottom freezers in 36" three doors
