Here are a few photographs from a MCM home exterior file I have been accumulating. Hope something in these images will be helpful to you! I think 4th, 5th & 6th images that incorporate brick might help you visualize some options.

I'd go with a really nice deep reddish-brown stain rather than a paint. It's kind of an earthy look. It's very pretty.

I agree with the olive green...very earthy. I like white on trim and gutters. I would choose black accents...doors,lighting,planters,ect. Good luck.

I love your house. Here is a MCM I recently renovated. We did a olive grey to go with the orangy brick... then accented with an orange door. (for some reason this first picture looks more red than it was).

We just had our house painted and love it. Kind of a green blue with cream trim (white's too harsh).

I like the look of a redwood stain (or paint colour) on the trim if you're going with a darker grey. It would also balance the brick, which you could leave alone.

What about a coral on the door? Or the Butterfly yellow on the door is good too.

The question is: do you want the house to stand out or do you want it to blend in with its natural surroundings? With the low roof, I'd personally choose the latter and would stay with your first choice, deep charcoal grey, leaving the white currently around the windows on the windows and on the gutter, too, but adding narrow trim boards around each group of windows -- beside and below and, if they fit, above -- perhaps with a planter beneath some of them, using a black or, for your jewel of a house, dark burgundy for those boards and the rest of the trim; and, unless you opt to keep them natural wood look, black or burgundy for the front door, as well, putting a vertical black or burgundy trim board under each downspout, too.

Edit to add: Have you considered adding a deck to the back and changing out a few windows for patio doors (left of the AC unit)?

I think it looks great as is. The roof overhangs look very deep. Are you sure you need gutters?

Thanks so much to everyone -- there are some fantastic ideas here, and such lovely comments! Unfortunately we do need gutters (we just had to do extensive repair work because we didn't have them, and now everything is solid we need to keep it that way), and yes, we are thinking of adding a deck off of the screened porch. Eventually we will get to the window/door issue as well, but baby steps ;-) Thanks again so much everyone!
