Your house desperately needs plants and landscaping. Cut away some of the concrete and put in greenery...........and a softer paving material other then concrete would help too......

Either the greater, or lesser Triffid plant is all you need. Evacuate the people first.

I agree with the above, find another home for the gravel mulch and go green, total evergreen groundcover plants and shrubs, with bold textures like rhododendrons and hostas. remove the edging where it meets the lawn and let the bed spill large around the corner to the south, with more height.

My real interest in commenting is to propose painting (not house paint, but the paint they use for sport courts, like basketball and tennis) an entry terrace onto the vehicular pavement, as follows:

a. reflecting the two columns of brick, using the expansion joint as the inside edge of the south column, and bringing the column reflections out say 10'/3m or so, and then giving it a full semicular ending at the west. Try some ideas with the colored chalk they sell for the kids to use on the sidewalk.

b. add some terracotta containers of plants near the brick columns and outward from them, filled with seasonal color. (placed so they don't have to move when the car is backing out of the garage.)

c. bring out two or three chairs and a table from the garage, a pot of coffee from the kitchen, and a neighbor or two, and you put your new outdoor room to work for you (without having to invite your neighbors inside, where the conversations will be distracted by the beauty within).

d. Enjoy.

Agree, run away from triffids... Also, agree much more green is needed. Not sure what area you are in so check with local garden clubs or county extension services to find appropriate plants for your area. Not quite able to picture the painting that Cascio is describing but sounds interesting. The cement table and benches are a bit off putting as well so yes, something "from the garage" or something with a softer edge would be more inviting. You've got a lovely home and just a few tweaks in front will show it off to its full potential.

The trim and door colour look fine with your bricks.
