Lillies not blooming

I have a couple of hardy pond lilies which have tremendous growth of the leaves yet only have 1-2 flowers. I fertilize in the early summer. Is there a secret to get them to bloom? As I stated, the plants looks really healthy with the green parts actually rising out of the water.

I think you have to continue to fertilize them all summer, and if you are in a cold zone, stop in July. I recently repotted mine, it needed it, and I haven't had blooms yet either. I plan on fertilizing them again now, it's been 30 days. I hate digging that pot thing out of the water, that is the only thing I hate about water lily.

I bought a big bag of aquatic fertilzing tablets off of Amazon. That is what I will use.

They do love the sunshine and bloom more prolifically in the heat. But they also are heavy feeders and need to be fertilized at the very least once per season, more often if you wish. I use Jobe's tomato spikes in mine - they are cheap, easy to find, easy to use, and do the job nicely. I fertilize in the spring and then every 3-4 weeks after that until autumn.

How big is the pot they are in? Mine are in 7 gallon pots and need 3-4 tabs every 3-4 weeks in order to keep blooming. Plus, waterlilies like being lower in the water......at least 3' down, in order to bloom well.
