New Construction Window Help-Sprouse?

My husband and I are putting in an addition and looking for windows. We have a terrible RBA experience under our belts from a previous home, we are familiar with the "best" brands and realize there's not a perfect answer. Because the installation is the most important factor, we really want to go with the brand our contractor is most familiar with, but that happens to be Sprouse, which doesn't really appeal to us because they're vinyl, and we can't find any reviews on them. We're willing to pay for a Andersen or Marvin product, but aren't finding anything that seems worth it. Anyone have a magic answer?

We use both Jeld-Wen and Pella clad products and have been very happy with both. The exterior is aluminum clad and the interior is wood. The interior can be purchased primed for painting or plain for staining. Andersen to my knowledge is vinyl clad. We have only put them in twice and did not like them. Jeld-Wen and Pella would be lower than the price of Marvin (not Integrity by Marvin which we also don't like).

Can only say that we have been using them for over 10 years now and have never had a failure. Just about every window company that did clad windows was subject to lawsuits for the early products they developed. (Jeld-Wen, Pella, Hurd, Andersen, Marvin and others were sued.) A lot has changed since then. The installation is the biggest factor that we have seen - and that affects every window brand regardless of cost. We do right much window replacement as part of remodels and you would not believe how poorly some installations are done - by some of the most expensive builders around. We are now OSI certified for window installations. That may be something that you request your contractor to get. Not hard to do and gives extra warranty protection.

Don't get vinyl windows if you don't want them. Someone who is experienced in window installation should be able to install various brands.

I was happy with the quality and look of Pella fiberglass windows. But the Pella rep incorrectly measured (found out later he actually included the trim piece that houses the old pulley system!) which cost us a huge amount of visibility and was very problematic for install. They sent inexperienced sub-contractors for the install, who did a terrible job with the interior trim because they had to fill such a large gap from the mis-measurement, and they didn't have anything more "finished" or decorative looking than a straight plank. Like others said, it's all about the measurements and install.
