it depends on the cook's height. If at 36" (cooktop height) plus 30" there is no risk of head banging against the deep hood, then go for it - 30" is probably the most recommended height.

IMO 32" seems to be the magic number for a 27" depth hood.

I am 6ft tall, but my gumbo and chili, when I make it.. lol.. that darn pot keeps getting taller! :P I never measured the room under the MW before.. had no idea it was 19".

Trevor is on it. We recommend 30-33" depending on your height. That's the way to go.

I'm 5'9" and cook barefoot most of the time. Took me the longest time around here to find a display with a 27" wide hood placed 33" above the rangetop. It works for my height, thank heavens. I didn't always want to be bumping into it!
