How Long Does JJ Take?

I placed an online order with Jungle Jack's for 2 plumerias. For any other newbies like me, they have that set up whereby you ask for the plants, they go check it out, find out shipping and contact you for the payment. Anyway, I am wondering how long this process takes. If something is not in stock do they tell me or just not contact me or what? I appreciate your experience with them. I am an anxious new mother!!!

Thanks!

Still no reply from JJ. Is this normal? I ordered from floridacolorsplumerias 4 days ago and they arrived today. This is my second time ordering from them and they are always fast. If JJ are the plumeria gurus and the plants are far superior, I can see this wait. Even Exoticplumerias did not take this long. Sheesh.

Hi treehugger- Hang in there! JJ plumeria are worth waiting for! I am sure John will be in contact soon! It is the busiest time of the year, and they are probably catching up after their open house.

Oh, wow. Thanks for cluing me in. What would you say the biggest difference is with JJ as a grower?

Gidgetsocal, Thanks for answering a newbie's stupid question!!! You're awesome!!!

No questions are stupid here, everyone can learn something everyday. Gidget gave you good advice, and jjs is worth the wait. The plants you get are usually multibranched and all are healthy when they leave the vista greenhouse, and they bloom true. John and just a few ppl work on orders so a lag time is expected when ordering from him. He also goes back and forth to Thailand frequently so that may be the case too. Have you tried calling to check on your order status? Ask if john is in Thailand. Squeaky wheel...btw what did you get from FC and jjs? Sorry (not really, you understand), I live vicariously since I'm out of space and can't afford the ones I want now. I love getting those pckgs from FC.

phalanx_viridis I did try calling john to check on the order but his mailbox is full. That is what prompted me to ask here.

Like phalanx_viridis said, there are no dumb questions here. I have learned so much from the folks on this forum and continue to do so! Take care!

Update - I received an email saying they received my request. That was it. I emailed back asking when do you ship? His reply was once a week when they have time. So that was Saturday. This is Wednesday and still no idea as to if they have the plants I ordered 2 weeks ago. I have to say I do not understand this. Maybe they are just so big now with the Lowe's account now that personal orders just fall by the wayside. I have ordered from 6 other vendors since their order went in without a hitch. If this is the normal approach to service, I would have liked to know. Maybe they should post that it takes a month to receive a plant. If I sound impatient it is because the Summer is ticking away here in PA and we have about one month left of plumeria weather. I could have ordered these plants from a different vendor and had them in pots by now.

That's off my chest (thanks!). I know this is a happy forum and I don't mean to be a downer but I guess I had hoped someone here would have also experienced this issue. You all down South have good weather so I guess the loooooong wait doesn't mean the same thing.

Treehugger, I understand your impatience, having such a short growing season. JJ's is very slow and probably very understaffed.

However, it is totally worth the wait as they have some amazing plants you can't get elsewhere, and they pack their boxes extremely carefully, like no one else.

If you want some of their older varieties, Florida Colors or Brad's will have many.

The only thing I would have appreciated is some sort of time frame. I still don't know if they even have the plants.

hibiscusmaniac & jandey1, You are right. Those companies are wonderful to to deal with. The only thing JJ has I can't find elsewhere in rooted is Divine. I also ordered Aztec Gold.

I ordered 2 from each company recommended here to see who has the best. I could have had AG long ago. Oh, well. Live and learn. I hope this post saves someone else from making the same mistake though. And if they do order from JJ, know what to expect going in. Thanks.

Hi Treehugger.. I also understand about summer temps and wanting to get your trees ASAP. We are limited In Our growing season, so I can sympathize with you... ( I'm on the East Coast..)

I like to order from all the above mentioned sellers. As well as Maui Plumeria Gardens. Great service from Doug!! . When I do order from John, I'll send In My request in the the early Spring.. He is busy and probably understaffed because it is a family operation. But his trees are beautiful and I know John and he tries to do his best. He does have beautiful trees.. So sorry for your delay.. I hope you get your trees soon!!

    keep us updated.

    Take good care,

    laura

I think Amazon has spoiled us with instant gratification. I ordered a Thai Surprise from JJ about the same time as you. I am still waiting to get an invoice as well. I'm sure our patience will be rewarded.

Thanks, Laura. We'll see. My expectations are pretty high at this point! Lol!

HB, Please let me know if you hear from John. I will do the same.

Stu, I agree. Doug's great. I do, however, need rooted plants and he mainly sells cuttings. He's awesome though. You are very right!

I wish i knew the lineage of my Plumeria, it's mother was from a cutting in an arrangement my brother sent my mom for mother's day when he was on vacation in Hawai. She has a lot of luck with fast growth, mine has only had it's first leaves since April, but it is crazy vigorous consideing it's indoor only. You couldn't tell they were related by the size of the leaves, her's are dark and compact, mine have a beautiful radiance and are huge, like those I have seen growing on some of your Southern patios, I am dying to know what the flower stalk (Sorry, forgot the Plumeria specific jargon) looks like at its earliest stage, I have been referring to all the areas where I see growth "nodes." I haven't even seen or smelled either of them bloom yet, but by all the pictures and descriptions I can see why they are so addicting! I hope you receive your new baby soon so it can get a head start before the cold short sets set in! Good stuff is always worth the wait, but I agree on the annoyance of delayed acknowledgement of your order and lack of eta, there are many many reasons why having both of those things in a timely fashion (if not the product) could be of great importance to a customer and if the influx of difficult to manage orders is the norm it should be stated on the site and restated upon order.

Well, I woke up this morning and it was 56 degrees. So I emailed John and cancelled my order. At this rate, I if I get them at all, it will be just in time to let them go dormant for Winter. I am so disappointed. I was so excited to get Divine. If anyone can send me a cutting, I would greatly appreciate it.
