That depends on how tall your room is (i.e. ceiling height), how high above the window frame you mount your hardware, and whether or not you want the fabric to just barely touch the floor, or if you want it to "puddle" on the floor

Formal rooms look great with a small puddle on the floor. I would advise that the barely touch the floor if it is a high traffic room, to avoid excess dirt.
