I still like knobs and handles. Lots of handles are to bulky and take away from from the beauty of the upper cabinets.

We remodal a few dozen kitchens each year and must say most all of my clients chose to use pulls on both the upper and lower cabinets. I actually favor the look as I feel it adds another layer of depth to the the over all feel and look. I hope this helps

If you're leaning towards more modern maybe pulls/ handles everywhere. To me it seems more traditional is the knobs everywhere and the middle ground would be the combination.

I personally hate knobs on drawers because I feel they are not as comfortable to open, particularly with bigger drawers.

You should try pulling pics of both options and see which one appeals more to you.

I did the combination knobs on doors and pulls on drawers and we are happy so far.
