19 x 42 wil not look strange.....what do you want to put IN THEM?

I much prefer the look and function of the wider doors.

#1 looks much better to my eye. Also you have more interior room with the larger cabinets.

However, if you go with #2, I'd have the outer cabinet doors open up to one interior cabinet, and the 2 cabinets flanking the range be the smaller ones, hinged left on the left one and right on the right one. This way when you open the doors, they won't be blocking the view of what's inside. You can store spices, oils, and other items used frequently for cooking.
