Rheem makes a quality gas heater and Aqua Comfort is a great one if you decide to go with a heat pump. I would agree not to invest in your old teledyn laars heater that can get pricing!!

Thanks- Rheem owns Raypak, and so I think that is the way I am going to go. Not sure 'Aqua Comfort' is available here. I am a bit nervous about the digital display, but I think Raypak is in the furnace business or the boiler business (as is Rheem) and pool heaters are a natural by-product of making boilers and burners. Raypak (and Rheem) are big players in the pool heater industry where you are located and very likely to be a good heater option. Pentair Mastertemp series would be comparable but less popular than Raypak. In the area that you are located the most common heater would be the flagship heater from Hayward - The Universal forced draft. I replaced my original Pentair 400k with a Raypak ASME 400k about five years ago. Love the Raypak. Easy to maintain, easy to winterize in the fall and open up in the spring.
