How long did you chill? For pan blooming the American Daffadil Society recommends a chill of no less than 13 weeks - 15 weeks is preferred. I would do at least that much or more in your neck of the woods. Yellow Cheerfulness is a variety far better suited to climate with much colder winters. But first quit watering the next time the foliage starts to yellow and dig when it is mostly yellow. Dry the bulbs to cure and hold them dry at room temperature for at least 2 or 3 months before starting the chilling process.

You might have better luck switching to a more tender type of narcissi like Paperwhites or Grand Soliel d'Or among other tazetta types. They are native to the Mediterranean and were even grown in ancient Egypt. As I understand it they probably won't need the cold treatment.
