Yes, same experience. I'm a professional gardener and buy 75% of my bulbs at Walmart. The rest at Home Depot. Now and then a pack or two at a garden center.

A can of beans is a dollar at Walmart...50 cents more for the same brand at the grocery store. No different with bulbs.

I have purchased quite a few at home depot and had good luck. Same with costco.

For online ordering I've placed two orders with Tulip World this fall. Their prices are reasonable and their shipping is only $5.95, though I can't comment on the quality yet since I haven't received them.

Like Socalgal, I mostly use Brant and Becky's and Van Engelen.

It is easy enough to browse catalogues on line, including Brent and Becky's, and there see the much greater variety available, compared to Walmart. You might not want to settle for the few choices available at Walmart. You might get addicted to planting new, different, unusual ones year after year, and sure you could stop if you wanted to, but you can't stop year after year ...

I just want to add that sometimes bags at Home Depot have labels. If you are interested in knowing a little about the labeled ones, type daffseek in google and follow the links. There is a place to type the names in and you can learn if those daffodils are early, mid, or late season bloomers.
