Seeking ideas for this niche space.

I'm seeking creative recommendations on what to do with the space underneath the stairs. As you can see from the pictures it boarders the kitchen and living room.

You could add a console and perhaps even a bench underneath the console for extra seating if needed. Above it you could still do a gallery wall of art or photos. Click picture to enlarge.

Custom made (due to unique size) closed storage unit, bookshelf, mini sitting area, or mini office. Either way, make sure there is very little obstruction to traffic flow into kitchen.

I would paint the ceiling of this niche peach like the walls. I'd also paint the three switch-plates on that wall peach. Then. . . So many options.

Even if you don't want the expense of an elaborate built-in, you could get a set of storage cubes that would use most of the depth of that space and keep things useful for one room or the other -- blankets, or infrequent dishes, or toys, say. Put a lamp on top and a couple of knick-knacks and you have a pretty and useful space.

I like the idea of storage, however I'm it will close of the area. As you can see in the photo it opens the room up. Any recommendations for a piece of furniture or sitting area?
