old Ball freezer jars, 14 oz, 22 oz

I've been picking up used jars from a thrift store about once a week this summer. This week's find had two jars labeled "freezer". To the rim, once hold 14 oz, the other 22 oz. They both had zinc lids, I think. They are non-magnetic, grey, pock-marked screw-on lids with the cruddy remains of red rubber seals.

Were these jars also useable for water bath or pressure canning?

In general, how do you decide whether to use an old jar for canning if it appears to be in good condition? Since last year, I've used quite a few jars of unknown age, though old enough to be weightier, thicker glass, sometimes with buttressing bars around the sides, as these freezer jars have.
