I like wood, but I prefer tile in the kitchen, bathrooms and entry - all the areas likely to get wet.

I would prefer wood, you ca get wood floring just as pratical as Tile.

I like tile, but I'm in a warm climate. If I lived in a region with four seasons, then I'd prefer wood, or bamboo.

I have the following floors in my house - slate, wood, onyx, concrete, limestone, and carpet.....my next house will be a man made smooth material. My wood floors, which are only upstairs make me "rhymes with witch" to my family members. They look amazing, but the upkeep is not worth it (or the nagging). With dogs and kids and water spots from walking around and brushing your teeth, drops from wet hair, dog drool, high heel marks, etc. Give me the fake stuff and save the tree.

I voted for tile - but with an explanation. We live near the beach & my favorite flooring is tile in a wood-grain...it looks just like wood but with the ease of care and durability of tile!

I agree with HomeScapes San Diego. A wood look tile is a great compromise. You still get the warmth and look of hardwood flooring but the durability of a tile floor. Not to mention that wood look tiles comes in so many colors, textures, styles, and are budget friendly! Here's an example of a wood look tile we installed in a beach front property.

Go with both, a porcelain with wood-look! With the high quality ones you can't even tell they're not wood (until you touch them of course). Never worry about scratching them, or water damage, or warping, or staining, or buckling, or heat, or UV. I think that's enough reason...

Wood! Tile hurts my feet as well and I think has damaged my arches, plus it gets too cold in winter. I'd prefer my entire house be wood except for the bathrooms.

I think it depends on what area u live in, for me I'd rather have wood because I think it's warmer than tile.

Ummm both - totally depends on the room.... for me living room, dining room, bedroom, library, halls & pantry are wood downstairs and bamboo upstairs. 1st floor bath and kitchen are tile, entries are slate and upstairs bath is stone. I don't think I'd want the exact same floor in every room.

A practical approach is a tile floor made to look like wood. Looks great, and is long lasting with easy maintenance.

Our house was flooded in the MayDay2010 flood.

It is on a slab and we have put in porcelain tile that looks like wood.

A flood can really change one's perspective on flooring.
