Thanks! I agree, I hate to part with the shutters. However, we live in a city and we have so little natural light in our house. We have houses on either side about 3' away. After living with these shutters for five years, I really want to take them down to get more natural light. The Hunter Douglas option that I found does fully collapse since it's not a typical roman shades. I was wondering if anyone had other ideas for more high-end treatments that fully collapse.

Could you use drapery panels? They can be closed at night....can be blackout......come in scads of fabrics....and can let in natural light all day!

I greatly dislike shades/blinds for this reason. I like light and the ability to see the outside!

How about Hunter Douglas Silhouettes? You get the shutter look but all the light you want!

Hunter Douglas solera in the Layla fabric. Great thing about these shades is that when in the up position, you have about 6-8 inches of fabric and looks like a valence. And you can do top down bottom up. It's a very new fabric so not many people have it! I included some photos so you get an idea.

Sheer shades would be great in that space. They have fabric slats and sheer fabric overlays on either side. So, you can open the slats and the natural light will give your space a nice glow.

Decorative Dreams - what are the colors and style of the Solera shades in the photos you posted? Is the wall color in those photos a light gray?
