Do you recommend any color for a lighter brown for pine windows and alder trim?

pine can difficult to work with. For a lighter stain I like using Watco Natural stain first as a pre-treatment to help eliminate blotching, and then use a Watco Light Walnut on top. You can even take the Light Walnut and thin it down with mineral spirits to lighten it even more until you get the desired color you are after. And with your topcoat, you can achieve a clear finish with a waterbourne poly, or a more amber finish with an oil based poly. Just remember if you use a waterbourne topcoat, that you let the stain dry a minimum of 48 hrs. Hope this helps!
