OT - How lucky can a person be!!

Dinner was almost ready - beet salad with goat cheese, fresh from our friend's garden corn and green beans, and my husband's favorite meatloaf. I have this great meatloaf pan. It is a regular loaf pan that has a perforated tray with handles that sits inside the pan and keeps the loaf out of the accumulated grease. I took the pan out of the oven, but grabbed it by the handles. As I was turning to put it on the counter, the pan released from the tray and the pan of hot melted fat from two pounds of meat hit the floor and then bounced up all over the cabinets, floor and me. My pants and sandaled feet were full of grease, but I did not get burned. The only thing I can figure out is that the grease must have cooled enough as it hit the floor and then bounced back all over me. What a mess though. I grabbed paper towels and mopped up the worst of it, took off my pants and shoes, cleaned off my feet and left the rest to clean up after dinner. First things first, right? We ate in the living room while watching the baseball game. Then I got up to finish cleaning the kitchen. When I hit the hardwood floor with my bare foot (which obviously still had a film of grease on it), I went flying. I came down on my bottom between a glass-topped table and a brick fireplace hearth - once again avoiding any injury except to that of my dignity. (I was still in my underwear. I must have been quite a site.) I cleaned up the mess, and went into my sewing room to cut fabric. Let me tell you, I made sure to use my Klutz glove. I figured I had used up my luck for the evening.

Lucky you! To have not been hurt seriously. Isn't there a saying that kitchen accidents are the worst?

Stay away from the stove for a while and keep the klutz glove handy.

Oh my. Sounds like a shtick from a three stooges movie. Glad you are okay.

I must agree with Fran...it does sound like a scence from the three stooges! So happy your are not injured, tell your DH you are eating out for the next few days...don't press your luck!

So glad it worked out as it did. I'd sure hate to see you injured. Yes, avoid sharp objects for awhile. You might also want to go out and buy a lottery ticket. But let hubby drive.

Glad you're okay. I think I would have found a corner to go to and curl up with a good book. With my luck, if I tried cutting fabric after that, I'd have a whole new scrappy quilt with all kinds of odd shaped bits and pieces. Linda

Sounds like the evening could have been a catastrophe. Glad you weren't hurt. Those are the stories we tell and laugh about later.

Now that I know you aren't hurt........PICTURES!!!! I want pictures of you in your undies splattered all over the floor! I'm with Val, eat out for the next few days and stay out of the kitchen.....that floor might still have a little slick film on it......the sewing room might be safer right now as long as you wear the glove. :-)

So glad you didn't get burned! I worry about that every time I make hummingbird nectar on the stove and move the big giant pot while it's hot. I am also glad you didn't get hurt when you fell, my gosh you were lucky that night. You made me laugh about putting on the glove, that was very smart!
