The first picture is to show you that a small chair will help bring the space together with your pedestals. You could angle the chair in the corner or put it flat against the stairs. Also, put a nice tall plant on the smaller pedestal to give it height next to the larger one, but I like having the two different heights next to each other to show dimension.

The second picture is to show you with putting a table next to the doorway will give you a place to have a "dropping station"

You could place your floor vase on your small pedestal next to the door to give it some added height and presence.

I would put the flowers on the smaller pedestal, then cluster the 3 items together.

A chair would be nice also.

None of the items you have selected IMO are appropriate with the style of your home. Gold gilt is a bit over the top for the Colonial details of your home.
