That might be something it would pay to talk to a soil engineer about to see if something could be done in terms of terracing to give you an area to work with.

This is definitely something you would want to talk to an engineer about. There is a lot that can go wrong with building an in ground pool.

Go with a fiberglass pool. An infinity edge would work well with a sloped lot. Fiberglass pools are special order now and can be customized with any color.

Would a terraced down pool work on the lot? So you would actually have 3 levels of pool.

Water is very heavy! It sloshes around a lot! Pool building and design are heavily regulated, especially when there is something below them, like other people's property! Start with your local building department to get a list of what they want from you prior to building...they may want a site plan showing setbacks and pool location. A construction plan with section drawings and elevations, an engineering plan showing construction design and force calculations, soils engineering to back up the structural engineering calculations, a landscape plan....that's what they want from me here in NorCal anyway. Your list will probably be shorter....unless you are my neighbor! When you have the list, you need to fill in the blanks. Site plans? Architects and landscape architects. Pool design? Pool contractors. Engineering? Structural engineer. Soils engineering? Start with the first on that list and get their advice on the rest. Once you sure happy with your first pro, they will help put together the team that gets the job done. Up until you look for competitive bids. Then you are on your own.
