Front Yard Help

What would you do to improve this front yard? Thinking of removing all the shrubs and start over with a fresh space. What do you think.

(Had a another post last year but other topics was mixed in that discussion. Want to focus on the garden in this post)

Yes, your bushes have gotten out of control. At least remove the huge ones and then work around the smaller ones. When the bushes start to obstruct your view from your windows, it's time to remove them.

Yep, I agree with Diane Land. Your home is beautiful but the bushes are hiding too much of its beauty. I'd love to see those tall grasses in place of the bushes.

I had the same issue and was able to pull out the large bushes and replant them along the perimeter of my yard. Looks like you have a few small bushes you can use. Take pictures and measurements to a local nursery to get suggestions.

Thanks for the feedback. I was afraid if I remove those shrubs the house would look a bit flat.

I love landscaping!! Some tall evergreens on each side of the house would look nice! Then a pretty Japanese maple in the front with boxwoods shaped round and sasanquas and hydrangeas for color

I wonder when I see basement windows if landscaping should keep sunlight shining through them...

Fabulous! Doesn't it make it look cleaner and newer??? Now some LOW bushes and /or hosta, and flowers. If you want to do anything tall (like a dwarf cypress or topiary shape bushes) stay away from the windows!

It definitely looks cleaner. My wife is freaking out right now since its pretty bare. In addition to all the suggestions I have received here, I will send pics to nursery as well for their help.

That is a huge improvement! It takes a while getting used to the bare ness, but it will be so nice when the new plants are added. Your gorgeous home deserves it!

Oh and mulch is your friend! It will make any bed of plants look sharp!
