Bedroom Update

last modified: 11 years ago

We did some work to update our bedroom. Here's a before photo:

And here's where we are now:

(sorry the photos are a bit dark, they were taken in the morning)

We took out the carpet and had the hardwoods refinished. Painted the walls gray. Added white wood blinds and curtain panels at ceiling height. A navy area rug. Added some orange accents.

Haven't hung any artwork yet.

Thoughts?

It looks richer and much more contemporary. I really don't think you need to add any art to it, as you have a lot of geometric patterns going on in the bedding, and this may overwhelm the room. The only thing I would suggest is, possibly putting mirror in the same location, you originally had art, which will open the room up a bit. Maybe a floor mirror???...

Hi K Interior! I hesitate on the mirror idea only because the wall across from the bed has mirrored closet doors. So that would be a lot of mirrors. :) Anything else I could put there that wouldn't compete with the bedding? (I'm considering switching the duvet cover to something a bit more simple - staying with navy and white though)

Well, that makes sense, and you're absolutely correct. How about doing some dimensional shelves or sculptural art? Since you've modernized the bedroom so, this could be fun.. You can do a series of any of these and add, based on your mood. I.e. switch vases either shape or color based on your accent pillows or comforter.

These , you could add jewelry, scarves, ties, etc again to match your mood..

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

Great job. The room looked very boring and outdated before. Looks very modern now and inviting. I am glad you changed out the table lamps too. As far as wall decor, keep it simple and maybe just put up one. From the look of it, I don't see too much room. Maybe a mid size framed artwork in light grey and orange?

The "before" picture looks old fashioned. The "after" photo is modern and contemporary. Job well done.

Your new bedroom looks great! You should change your ceiling light. Get a nice chandelier and voilà.
