Brussel Sprout help

Hello,

I am having trouble keeping my brussel sprouts alive. I grew some sprouts from seeds and since I have transplant them into the garden I have had 2 wilt and die 6 and 10 days after transplant. I put some 5-5-5 fertilizer in the soil when I planted them. Watered them right after planting, water daily to keep the soil moist about 1-2 inches below the top, surrounded the plants with grass clippings. I am not seeing any aphids, yellowing, holes in the leaves. I hardened them off and my spare brussel sprouts are very close by in their small starter containers and they seem to be doing just fine. Any thoughts??

Have you put any weed killer on the lawn?

no weed killed. I have them in raised beds that were built this year. I did have a spring crop planted of broc in earlier and I didn't have any problem with them not surviving.

Are there any recommendations to decrease transplant shock...I harden them off, fertilize the spot prior, transplant on an overcast day and water after moving. I have grown all my veggies this year from seed and transplanted them with no problem - onion, tomatoes, eggplant, lettuce, kale, broc and a brussel sprout earlier this year and haven't lost any until these brussel sprouts. I appreciate all the thoughts hopefully we can find something that will give me better luck...I am gonna run out of spare brussel sprouts! :)

What size container were the seedling sprouts in and how tall were the seedlings? How did the number of roots showing when pulled from the container compare with other, earlier transplantings?

These seedlings were planted in a 3" diameter container and stayed in it until transplanted to the garden. I transplanted the now dead brussel sprouts 10 days ago....I am not sure the size or number of roots there were...I have another group of brussel sprouts that I actually planted seeds 10 days after the initial group. This second group is about 4-5 inches tall. I count about 4-5 long roots coming from the bottom of their pots.

I have 2 spots I am trying to grow brussel sprouts. One spot is in full sun with no shading and the other is in mostly full sun (couple tomato vines are high over head and give some spots of shade) I have had brussel sprouts die in each spot. I know they prefer cooler temperatures should I try covering them...maybe it's just too much direct heat. As for the watering I have tried just watering daily like I usually do, when the soil dries out, and I have tried watering twice daily, keeping the dirt pretty moist....still they die. The ones still in their small pots still look good they only difference is they don't get as many hours of sun and it is sun later in the day.

I sprayed them with some pesticide spray just incase some bug is causing issues...

Oh and now my kale is wilting and dying in the other bed :(
