"Nosema locustae" is effective when applied as directed. It is most effective when put out early so the newly hatched grasshoppers would be more susceptible, but it is a passive control. The target critters must eat, ingest, the bait to get the protozoa that will kill them.

Yes ... precisely according to directions when there were X small (wingless instars) hoppers per square yard, sprinkled at the recommended coverage.

And I now have 5x that number of hoppers and lace for leaves. Which is why I'm thinking we had an extended hatching season.

The up side is that they seem to like pigweed, which is also thriving.

And the kingbirds are having a good time strafing the yard in formation. It's impressive to watch - the bird in the lead seems to be just kicking up the hoppers and the rest of the formation are snatching them out of the air. Then they come around for another run.

It works OK for me but not great. I rotate it with spinosad for better control.

Keep in mind that "Nosema locustae" is a passive, not an active, method of control. The target must find the bait and ingest it and if they do not ingest it it will not work.
