i can't much see what use a trash compactor is nowadays, since most of the trash is recycling which the collectors dont want to be compacted. if you dont use the dishwasher maybe put in a cabinet instead.

trash compactors have their problems with odors, and can attract mice and bugs. Removing the dishwasher will reduce the value of the home.

most compactors are 15" wide which leaves you filling a space of 9" - so if staying in house long term keep washing by hand and put in a cabinet. If you don't need the storage buy a dishwasher, if you do move it will be a new dishwasher ! Give the new homeowners the best
