does anyone have ornate pulls or knobs? pics?

I know classic is always safe, especially since I am going with a mother of pearl backsplash, but I just saw these and love them. https://www.houzz.com/products/jeffrey-alexander-odessa-filligree-3-3-4-arch-pull-satin-nickel-prvw-vr~8746171

I would love to see pics of how more ornate pulls fit into your kitchens :)

    Thanks!! Those look great!

The middle is pretty but the edge of what you posted looked like a spoon end to me.

    I like Imgch pulls.

hmmmm, I had not seen that until you said it, lol. The filigree and beading is what appealed to me.

I hope you're having either glass or mirrors and maybe upholstered (and studded??) island seats!!! Glam!!!

I *am* having studded upholstered seats!!

jenncent - that literally made me LOL

    LOL

jenn, looking forward to your kitchen, I am wanting to redo more on the glam side also. And while yes, the ends of the pulls you posted slightly resemble a spoon handle, I find nothing wrong with that. Actually, it's rather appropriate for a kitchen, no? I like them. :)

I am also considering MOP for my BS!

Those are some fancy beautiful pulls!!! Can't wait to see the kitchen they go in!!

In looking at them again, practically, because I always do that. (or almost always) I will say, they look like they will be harder to clean. Just putting that out there, may not matter to you/they may be worth it.

I don't post often....but this is what I am looking at- I have a Victorian.

http://www.carpediemhome.com/product.html cache' sings to me- or is it "blings" to me?

Heather those are cool looking pulls but I kept thinking OMG hours with a toothbrush to clean the grease off.

I badly wanted these, but - $32/each (that stopped me immediately) and the thought of cleaning them.

beth09, lol, so true, Spoon ends are quite fitting. I have 3 kids, so I wipe my pulls down daily anyway, but I did think of that too. Lots of little areas to clean. If I had my way, I would have these. [https://www.houzz.com/products/swarovski-crystal-pull-handle-by-topex-chrome-prvw-vr~12514769[(https://www.houzz.com/products/swarovski-crystal-pull-handle-by-topex-chrome-prvw-vr~12514769) But sadly, I do not have 5k for pulls, LOL. I saw these at a kitchen store and they were amazing in real life.

Heather, those are beautiful! It is like jewelry for cabinets.

    oasisowner, those are striking.

When I saw the first ones that you posted I immediately thought of the fancy little teaspoons that my grandma used when serving tea. That was a neat memory.

The last ones remind me a glam bracelet in rhinestone, very pretty.

I understand you! I sooo want this Celtic pattern, but in something like a weathered pewter:

But practical me knows that we plan to grow old in this house, and one large-scale pull on each drawer is a better choice. Practical me also likes to drape a dishtowel through a handle. But, oh, if this pattern were made in perhaps a 14" pull, I'd be all over it.

But about you: If you're in love with this fancy pattern -- and I do see why you are; it's lovely, and is "just right" paired with that greeny-turquoise painted cabinet -- get it. If you should grow tired of it, knobs are an easy change. Provided, of course, it's a standard size.

blfenton, I definitely want to go more glam bracelet than grandma spoon, lol. The first one reminded me antique jewelry, which is my one true love. But I don't want it to look like a spoon.

mrspete, love that. Brushed pewter wuold really suit it. maybe put them in your bathroom? or use the rounds on your dresser? When I love something, some times just getting it in a small way settles my lust to have it.

I thinkI will buy 1 of a few designs so I can see it in the space.

Hmm.... what about using them in a special place? I'm thinking of using them in the cabinets that look like furniture that won't be opened on a regular basis. Do you have an area like that? Like a fancy necklace with that little black dress you don't wear often! On my other cabinets (white), DH does want to use spoons!!!! here is an example scroll down a little:

    http://www.lushome.com/25-recycling-ideas-add-unusual-handmade-knobs-pull-handles-interior-decorating/129314

I can't imagine cleaning THAT silver!!! Have no idea how I'll incorporate both- but it is about the only thing he has asked for and he is making the cabinets....well, and no power or water in the island.

Those Swarovski pulls are major glam, and majorly expensive too! lol

I like your second choice, definitely glam. :).

heather, great idea. I just need to find another place to use them.... lol

beth, I know right. I would have to sell a child or a kidney to get those, lol. I could maybe buy 2 knobs for my end table.. hahaha

You do know we can live with one kidney, right? ;)

I love mother of pearl backsplash! I tried it for my bs, but it didnt work with my other finishes in my kitchen. Dang! But if it did I loved this hex shape with these knobs and pulls.

Whoa, sorry those images are so huge!

Jenncent, I love your pulls! They look a bit like mine. I got them from the same maker.

Here are the other ornate knobs and appliance handles I choose to coordinate with the pulls. They're all from different companies but the color and theme seem to make them blend well.

I also have a Mother of pearl BS. We must have similar taste.

Enjoy the process. It's so much fun picking the "jewelry" of the kitchen.

    Imgch,. Yours are gorgeous!

JennCent, I had already had the same thought! Though instead of the bathroom, I'm considering using them on the built-in in the living room.

rebunky, I have seen that BS in someones kitchen on here, pretty! And I love the pull and knob, but the practical side of me saw them and started whispering "fingerprints, fingerprints, fingerprints" in my ear. lol ;)

sanjaungirl, I love your first pull! So fluid and graceful. I personally don't see the spoon handle so much, maybe because I've had/seen spoons with just about every imaginable handle/end shape on them. And I like the others you have, they all blend nicely. And your BS is lovely. Do you find it easy to care for? Also, I can't quite make out what is above your stove, could you elaborate please? It looks pretty! (is it marble?)

Here's a close up of it. It's Artistic Tile's Chrysanthemum. It's Calcutta marble and mop framed with Calcutta marble . It wipes clean. Even tomato sauce just wipes off. I'm a bit hesitant to fry anything now that I splurged on this. I cook bacon in the oven now!

By the way, the hexagon mop is from Williamsun's kitchen I believe. We were putting ours in at the same time.

@sanjuangirl. I'm in Orange County too and would like to connect to ask some questions about your kitchen. Could you activate your email options so we can chat offline.

    Thanks. Kim

sjg, thank you for the pics! So pretty, as is everything in your kitchen. :) So glad to hear the MOP is easy to deal with. That "may" just clinch the deal...

ETA, yes, that's her kitchen I was thinking of!

Yes I love Williamsen's kitchen. Yours too sanjaungirl. The framed chrysanthemum is so pretty! I remember that thread where you two were both installing your backsplashes. She had a star burst pattern I think. She also has the most fabulous turquoise wall color!

Okay, I tried to find her reveal. Did she not do one? Here one in progress picture that shows how that gorgeous wall color looks with the mop.

Oh and Beth, yeah you are probably right about the finger prints! I used those glass knobs (mine are orb on the base) but only on my upper stacked glass cabs. No fingerprints show, but maybe because they are up high and not used much!

Jenncent, here is one more fancy pull I liked with the mop backsplash because it reminded me of a seashell and I loved the finish. I guess it is more of a cup pull though? :-)

our knobs and pulls have been in for awhile - at least 2 months - and we are a busy household with two young kids. and so far, i've not done anything special to clean them and they still look great, IMO... no fingerprints and no food or dirt or anything. i do wipe everything down every day...several times a day...just during the course of normal cleaning up during/after meals, but certainly no scrubbing or expended effort on keeping them clean.

just wanted to share in case you are dissuaded from getting what you love only because you fear the upkeep

rebunky, I don't think she has ever done a reveal. She posted not too terribly long ago about doing one, that she was almost finally done with the kitchen, but I haven't seen anything yet.

And yes, having pulls that high up would definitely help in keeping them clean! lol

I love that last pull you posted. That would be gorgeous with MOP.

omg, this thread blew up with so much gorgeousness I can't handle it.

I actually have some mop hex tile here. I ordered a few from a few places to compare quality, The hex is actually the most pearly. I was planning on herringbone, but the hex is pretty, so I think we will go with that after all.

    still not decided on counters.

sanjuangirl, I love absolutely everything in your kitchen. I die. I love fleur de lis, so those speak to me. And that calcutta insert... now I want one, lol.

rebunky, thank you for posting that. Aother design I need to see, lol. Where do I find that starburst pattern??? love those pulls too. I love the finish.

I have to clean constantly anyway, so I am just going for a design that makes me happy while cleaning it, lol.

sanjuangirl - Your kitchen jewelry is stunning. So, very pretty. mmm...I wonder if my DH will let me replace ours, but it's only 5 years old so probably not. But, nothing to stop a girl from searching and dreaming is there?

Rebunky: where are those crystal knobs and pulls from? I'd love to do something like that in my master bath.

Reeses, here a link for where I found those pulls in the picture. http://www.houseofantiquehardware.com/antique-handles-for-furniture-hexagonal-crystal

My glass knobs look just like that but mine are Amerock. I forget where I ordered them from online, but they were a lot less $.

Beachem. Sorry I was offline all evening. I will try to activate my email. It used to be on when we were just Gardenweb as I had lots of private conversations. I haven't made any changes hmmmm. Any suggestions where I go on Houzz to change email options?
BTW. I'm loving this thread, I've always been a fan of ornately beautiful things and find all "the clean lines" in decor a bit sterile and boring.

RH has pretty glass knobs. We used these on upper cabs only for a twist of color but they have on clear.

They also have coordinating products so pulls (don't love those though) and hooks etc. we used the coordinating hooks in our mud room to tie spaces together

Thanks so much Beth. I had to use my computer to make the email changes. I couldn't do it on my ipad.

I can get emails now Bechem (Kim)!!!!!

Please feel free to get in touch!

Can't wait to see your finished project Jenncent. I feel like I'm going to love love love all of your choices. It's so much fun, but every time you make a decision that means you have to NOT choose other things that you love. It's hard, but exciting. Good luck!

I know, I feel like a crazy person. I don't see myself making another kitchen anytime soon, so I need to get this right, but I love so many things, lol.

Sanjuangirl. I'll be in touch. My mom is back in the hospital again tonight so I only have the concentration to read GW and be distracted.

So sorry Beachem, hope your mom recovers soon.
