Tile flooring for kitchen

We're doing a complete kitchen remodel and will have our cabinets painted a similar color to the lower cabinets in the attached picture. We will also have the upper cabinets a shade of white with white ceramic subway tile for the backsplash. We're leaning towards Silestone Snowy Ibiza for the counters or something similar. We have no idea what to do for the tile flooring! I like the look of white, but my husband would prefer something darker. Any suggestions? Thanks!

sometimes it's good to know when your floor could use a vacuum or mop tho. now that i see how often i need to do my black and white checkerboard, i shudder to think how totally filthy my old beige tiles really were.

I think a white floor would be too hard to keep clean looking.

If you are going to have stainless appliances, consider using some large size grey tiles, endless variety available. Remember tile floors are hard underfoot and not easy on feet or legs for long periods of time. Some resemble wood beautifully. A mottled look helps to conceal marks on the floor if you have kids. I like the tiles in your inspiration pic or the black and white checkerboard tile suggestion. I also think some gray modern tiles could work. Very simple.

If your convinced black and white tile is out of the question try dark gray grout in your Subway tile (Which help recreate the Vintage vibe of the floors..) And use these dark gray slate tiles on the floors for a more modern look.

Thanks everyone for your ideas! I would love to do wood floors in the kitchen because that's what we're doing in the rest of the house, but we get a little splashy when doing dishes :) My husband would like the dark slate, but might be a little dark for me. Sounds like gray tile is the way to go...good compromise ;)

Smoke grey is also nice. Sometimes the darker colors are harder to also look clean.

We’ve seen the influence gray has had on home design – including floor
tiles. You may want to check out Rockwood Porcelain in Glacier and Quarry or Napa Plank Porcelain in Estate (below) as possible gray tile contenders for the kitchen.

Just a quick comment to recommend NEVER, EVER installing solid white tiles in a kitchen. I have had them for 24 years, and they have been the bane of my existence to keep clean. I will never have solid white flooring again anywhere, but especially not in a kitchen.

My house came with some kind of white laminate tiles that are made to look like marble in the kitchen. It hasn't been as bad as I thought, but we don't wear shoes in the house anyway. The only thing that drives me nuts are the black parts on scratches from previous owners make it look like dirt marks I've missed cleaning. I wouldn't want too dark a floor or you won't see any of the dirt and gunk lurking down there.
