Plain white or light gray.

a white color curtain with vertical straight line pattern, due to white color curtain enclosure will expand the view

Dark grey or possibly a muted red, not like a in your face fire red but maybe more wine

A rusty orange would look good too

You might also consider painting the mirror frame the same color as the shower curtain to provide a bit more color which is repeated in the space. You could also choose towels in the color of the shower curtain.

Have you consider put glass doors instead of curtains, it real isn't a budget breaker and so much easer to keep

A nice rich buff or khaki above beadboard would be nice. Too much white. Painting the mirror frame was a great idea also..

There are a lot of beautiful colors in the tub surround. Which do you like better--greys or tans? Whichever you chose, I would coordinate the shower curtain color with an added paint color above the wainscoting. Add in new towels in the same color family and I think it will be perfect!

chocolate brown terry or a cascading white cotton - no design but texture will be nice - if you go for dark brown, add a dark brown soap dispenser and a framed piece of art with dark brown wood and keep the shower curtain closed.

white is always easy so then you can accent with whatever colour you like.

COLOR, COLOR, COLOR!! ;) Pretty much anything earthy from the tile. I would paint above the wainscoting, too. Then your white mirror, fixtures & wainscoting will really pop. I just did white wainscoting up to about 6 ft high in my mudroom (easier to clean than sheetrock walls!). Above that I painted a mossy green, which really makes the white look great. I would buy a white shower curtain.

Have you thought about tying any of the colors together from an adjoining room? That way, you are drawn into the bathroom. For example, let's say it's a muted rust or gray, then paint the walls above the wainscoting - mottled. Put a towel rack with the same color towel, maybe brighter. Get it monogrammed. Get a dramatic flower arrangement to put over the back of the toilet using brighter colors, but in the same family. Think about painting your walls first, then take a swatch of that color to Bed, Bath, & Beyond to see what shower curtains they have in one of the colors of your tilework. But, I wouldn't do white - you need the drama that color can bring. Whatever you do, you'll want to drape them back to hooks so you can see into the tub and the colorful wall behind the tub.

First of all why cover up such beautiful tile work with a shower curtain. If it is in the budget have a glass shower door installed. Then bring in the earth tones from the tile throughout the bathroom, there is too much white. Maybe through the paint color or other accessories.

Heavy clear vinyl shower curtain you can throw in the wash. Dark shower curtains mean dark showers when there is no light above the tub.

Dear apple-pie-order, your sentiments are exactly my hubby's and since we are using a guest BR while doing something to our ensuite he took down my carefully thought out curtain and put up a vinyl one which I hate. So I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and they have some fabric shower curtains in more than one color that have a see through area at the top (sheer fabric) with a snap out liner. That is my compromise and he has more light that way. My sentiment was I really did not need to see my body parts while showering b/c they have been attached in the same manner for many years and I know where they are - that did not fly. LOL

White. Small bathroom. White will make the space appear larger and always clean and fresh. I think a dark curtain matched to the tile would close it in too much. Maybe a white with thin tan (brown) stripes would work as well. We have white beadboard wainscoting in our small bathroom as well and I love it. And I agree with someone who suggested a light contrast paint above the wainscoting. I hate glass shower doors that collect dirt in the tracks.

Nice tiling, why ruin it with a curtain? Take a look on overstock for a brand called Dreamline for a low cost glass door!

There seems to me to be too many different colors of whites going in this bathroom already. I would choose a softer gold tone from the tile work and use that on the upper walls , paint the mirror frame a metallic to match the other hardware would accent that area nicely as well... I too think a see-through shower curtain with very little going on, maybe a detail in white lines would be enough...
