Are bidets out?

The plumbing internal to a bidet failed. We have decided to re-do the entire bathroom, but can not decide whether or not to replace the bidet. If it is not replaced, we can enlarge the shower. If it is, the shower remains the same size. There are two options: a) gut the bathroom and replace the toilet with a Toto Washlet or comparable one and expand the shower to something more luxurious, thus dispensing with the bidet altogether OR b) gut the bathroom with the same shower size and simply replace the bidet with another one. In both instances there would be new flooring, tile, fixtures, faucets, cabinetry, lighting, etc. The costs are not significantly different and, hence, not a factor. What would you advise?

Grateful for any advice that you can give.
