Lois, I've been following the story of this quilt. I think I would have been so angry that my friend let the dog do that kind of damage that I don't think I would have been able to try to fix it. And if I was the dog owner, I'd have been too embarrassed to ask the quilter to fix it!

However, kudos to you for fixing it! Hopefully your friend will take better care of it this time. (Or control her dog.)

You two must be very good friends for her to feel comfortable enough to ask you to repair this. If I were her, I think I would have cried the whole time it took to unquilt it. You did a remarkable job of repairing and from the pictures, looks just as good as it did in the beginning. Good for you!

My dogs were bad and I posted the story, but if it weren't my dogs and my Quilt top, I would have hid in shame never to tell the story to the quilter. Nice work!

She is a dear friend, and she waited for a year to tell me, during which time I used the extra focus fabric I had in another quilt. Otherwise I would have had enough to repair it properly.

Great repair job. You'd never know it wasn't your original plan.

Stuff happens and sometimes it nobody's fault. Our well behaved dog got frantic when DH was in the hospital. On the third day he tore apart (chewed-up) a beautiful old wooden waste basket in order to get to the dog door and go out. I guess he hoped DH would be in the backyard.

A remarkable job of reconstruction. I am not sure I could be that kind of a friend but I respect that you are. Congratulations on a job well done. One you surely proud of. TFS
