well, how absolutely lovely. did not hang second mirror because? if you do hang maybe on narrower wall? the question you are asking is i believe the incorrect one.

    1. Do I need something on this wall for ... more storage, etc? if not....

    2. would i like to fill the wall space with more art, shelves, china accents, vases, mirrors?

I think the wall and room are very sophisticated and modern. I personally would not be able to not hang original art work on the wall. chances are i would need more storage too, but you are very much in vogue with a lovely modern minimalist style.

Now if you are just looking for something to do, can you tell me how to get a picture from the internet to houzz without the street address? tehehe

Actually the console is too short or the mirror is too long. Maybe the mirror in corner is a better fit. Mirror should be 2/3-3/4 of area behind the console.

Is the chandelier bottom 30-32" above tabletop?

Thank you havingfun, i did not hang the other mirror yet because still not sure whether i should have that mirror there, just moved in and still trying to figure out the space
  • 11 years ago
Hi Susan, i have this big mirror because i thought it was going to look better for the table as it is pretty big, table is 89" and mirror is 64". I don't know the actual measurement of the bottom of the chandelier to the table :( will have to measure it
  • 11 years ago

    actually i still like it.

Thanks A&D, that's a very interesting idea and i like how it might help frame the space, i guess it will have to be a simple painting.?

The mirror should be to scale of the buffet not the table. You can do 1 of 3 things. Replace the mirror with the smaller one and hang some art on each side. Or hang a lg art over buffet and put like vertical mirrors on each side. Or you can keep mirror the way it is and hang vertical art on each side. Remove mirror from corner.

I love the chandelier...where did you find it?
Hi designernot, i got it at Living Lighting
  • 11 years ago
Thanks Susan, yes maybe i should remove the mirror from the corner, too many mirrors, will try some art
  • 11 years ago
Susan where do i get those last 2 paintings?

yep, love that, real art, you specially selected. saw some really nice stuff on etsy, under $300 for good size works.

ITEM# 16975393, ITEM# 16975394, Overstock.com They come in several sizes so measure the walls on each side of buffet and maybe even tape them out on wall to make sure you order correct size.

Your mirror is already too large for the buffet. If you flank a mirror, even a smaller one, with art, then it will be really too long. With the minimalist look you've got going, you don't need anything on the sides. Hang a properly sized mirror or art over the buffet, remove the mirror from the floor in the corner, and you're done.

bye cristina, call if you need.

Mirror of a better size, or art:

You can replace the mirror with a round shape mirror and also place an indoor plant in the corner of the room to add a little bit of color
  • 11 years ago
Thank you so much groverxle, those pics really give me a much better idea
  • 11 years ago

    And with a round mirror:

I'm curious...why the suggestion to use the round mirror instead of square?
    Thanks Christina!
Thanks groveraxle again, i love you sharing and taking the time to show me the possibilities. By the way, what program do you use for that?

HI, Cristina. I use Photoshop Elements, Photoshop's skinnier cheaper cousin.

the art should be the same width as the buffet. If you can't find try something with 3 canvases

btw the mirror you have now is much better than the ones groveraxle suggests to you. They both have different geometry compared to the rest of the furniture and do not look good

Looks to me like the current mirror is just a tad narrower than the buffet. It would be better if it were about 3/4 the width, but I don't think it's terrible as is. Really pretty room!

I was afraid to choose a smaller mirror also because the wall is really long, that's why i'm asking whether i should put anything next to the buffet, maybe i'll put a plant in the corner next to the buffet
  • 11 years ago

I think a large floor plant in the corner would be very nice - if the light is good for plants in that corner.

Here is a dining room that reminds me of yours.

Notice that everything in the room is big! Big candelabra, big flowers maybe 5 little glass urns to hold all those flowers, Mirror is not particularly large but the lamps that you could really add in glass for softness and color to brighten the room. The windows look big as they are dressed as one and the curtains have a big valance. Chandelier is somewhat large but has a lot of volumn that reads as big. The rug is big and there is a wall wallpapered wall that is opposite the wall of curtains to balance each other out in a big simple pattern; this is all about big in simple patterns. I would just add large big dramatic accessories to this room. Yours do not show up and a dining room is all about drama when you have glass and silver!

I think your mirror and console are just fine but lamps would be the frosting on the cake! Big!

PS when I forst looked at the room I thought it was wallpapered but realized it was the light reflecting onthe wall from the gorgeous chandelier. Now that is big.

I like the mirror, I would put a floor lamp near console, with table lamp on other side on console, love lamps. Some art on other wall. Put a small glass table between chairs by window, something bigger and longer on dinning table. Lovely room
  • 11 years ago
Yes, planning to put a small round table between the 2 chairs

I think a skirted table in a sparkly cloth to the floor would be lovely too or just a pretty round mirrored table or glass and wood too. Lots of choices. Room has some nice natural organic elements to it.
