Would the sofas recline into a table behind it? If not, I might look for something like this, an old dresser or small buffet, maybe on craigslist, (not necessarily this particular style, but a size like this) to fill some of that space and still give you access to the floor plug.

Since that is a reclining sofa, I'd put a runner rug along the floor there, over the plug, and run as flat an extension cord as you can find (they have the kind that is flat where it plugs in so it's more flush against a wall, for example) under the rug and sofa to the ends of the sofa for lamps.

Then I'd put a couple of small ottomans on the rug so the sofa can still be reclined and you have some extra seating when needed.
