Accessing outlets with a built in desk.

There are lots of built in desk/office photos shown. The counter tops appear seamless. So, How exactly do you access an outlet for a computer? Is there a hole someplace to slip wires? I really want to have a built in desk in our house and wondered how others address this issue.

Sorry, no photo...but just about anything we put in your house can be drilled with the right tool. Identifying the actual material, because seamless doesn't really do that, helps. If it is solid surface, standard woodworking tools will do,the job. Drill you hole....but buy a grommet first! Look at grommets on Rockler.com. They are trim rings for holes in desktops. Lots of sizes, finishes and shapes.

A grommet is one option, but it's also fairly easy to bring an outlet up from floor level to just above the desk....

Peggy is correct. The cost of cutting in an outlet will be significantly higher than drilling a hole and adding a grommet. And then the wires stay on top of the desk.
