Keep shutters?

I want to tone down the colors on our rent house. I'm thinking Poinsettia by SW for the door (a wine red). Now for the shutters should I.......?

1. Paint all shutters and leave them in place. Color might be Black Fox by SW (soft brownish-black) to tone things down.

2. Remove shutters on side of house where real shutters would not be but keep the front and spiff them up with paint, hinges, and dogs so they look operational.

3. Remove them all and just paint door.

4. Burn it down because I'm tired of thinking about it.

Are you keeping house paint color the same? Also, I'm having trouble with my eyes today-- is the house wood siding?

The house color will stay the same for now as it is income property and just needs a quick sprucing to get it rented. I would however like to paint it anything other then Imodium green.

Yes the siding is wood... Not sure what it's called but it comes in sheets.

The shutters do look kind of funny because they are too narrow and too short. Try removing them all and just paint the front door a pretty color. The landscaping needs help. It is a real cute house and good luck.

I would keep shutters, paint them black or something very near black like you are suggesting. I am still brainstorming on your front door color though..

i think bigger issue is adding a few foundation plants to side so shutters don't feel so out of place. Cute house! And I'll let you know when I think of a door color...

britta- i just wanted to throw out the thought out there that if you aren't planning to paint the siding, then you might not want to remove any shutters, as the sun may have lightened the siding. I'll let others help with color, but you could also try out the sherwin Williams site to play with colors. I think you might get a good renter response from sprucing up the landscaping a bit. Don't go crazy , but look at what you have and see how you might do something minimal, but nice.

I would paint the shutters a dark khaki and the door a dark red....SW Rustic Red. I would not do a wine red...too purple. It is a very cute house.
