I would remove that backsplash before adding tile. I am not fond of the look of granite/quartz backsplash with a tile on top, especially when the granite is so tall. Colors that look good with Tan Brown granite are beige/cream/whites with some golden tones to it. I like the glass tiles with a little iridescent quality to them.

I am totally new at this.

Do you think removing the granite backsplash and adding glass tiles would be something that I could tackle myself or do you definitely sugget a pro for this?

And do you have any idea what the estimate might be for this size of needed work?

I would say if you have never installed or removed a backsplash, you might want to consult a professional. Without knowing how large your space is, it is hard to give a good idea of cost. Tile setters can charge prices all over the place, and you do get what you pay for. Removing any backsplash will likely cause damage to the wall, so you will also have repairs to do to prep the area for the new tile. I would call around to some places near you and get quotes.

The backsplash you have saved in your idea book is also a great option! i would continue looking, and keep things on the light side. You'll find what YOU love.

Totally agree with removing granite backsplash. I'd also be inclined to say remove it and don't replace it--just repair drywall and paint. You don't have a really defined area for a backsplash. Where does it end? How high up the wall does it go? What about around the window? If you use enamel paint on the walls where the backsplash would be it will wipe clean --no problem.
