I feel like the outside needs a revamp. Would love colour combos and ideas on lawn, plants, siding

I'd take a different approach and go with a dark color scheme. See pics below. What makes it work is all the white accents.

I would take some elements from your carport. First by Boxing in your front columns to match the ones in your carport. Add a 1/2 post column on either side of the door and add hand railing to each side.

Trim and shutters paint will be white. You may want to consider ditching the shutters and adding wide molding around the windows. Make sure to paint the front peaked area of porch roof the dark color. Add a round iron or medallion element painted white in the peak. Add a white privacy fence around your ac unit.

Get rid of the concrete area to left where chair is. Remove all the bushes.

Put in a stone walkway that matches your carport from the drive way to the porch. Cover the existing concrete in stone. If not possible stain it to match the stone color.

Create a curved planting bed on each side using dark brown mulch, nuggets or pine straw-nothing red. I like to do a glossy leaved bush along the back wall of house. Then do a row of something with a dark purple tone. Next would be something brighter - a yellow or chartreuse color. All bushes indigenous to your part of the country. Keep each bush trimmed shorter than the one behind it. Lastly, would be a row of some sort of grass like lirope that follows the curve of the bed. Add a rock or two in front of the bushes to tie in the pathway. Landscape lighting would be a nice addition.

Add planter boxes in a dark wood tone and put annuals here.

I think, you should paint the shutters and the concrete steps and porch black & keep the front door as well as the house the same color. The support poles for the front porch could be similar color to your roof. Unless your house and door does need a new paint job, doing these simple color changes could do a big impact for a small cost.

Me, I've mostly hated seeing so many black tar driveways, etc. that I wouldn't consider it: but a dark grey instead. A comfy glider doesn't have to be very expensive. We have one out front and use it frequently; don't know what the area at right looks like - a larger seating wouldn't have to go under the window, but could go at right.... Place fragrant plant[s] nearby.

Is siding cream? The shutters seem too vibrant/saturated... unless you added some features quite a good tie-in. Whatever paint store you'll buy from, get a chip to match your siding and see what they'd choose for accent colors....

Once you take care of the siding, you really need a landscape design, but you can start with adding brick pavers over the concrete walkway and small front patio. Once this is done, your carport will be an eye sore, so you will need to do something with it. Cut back the overgrown shrubs. In the brick circle create a centerpiece with flowers and shrubs. You are missing trees, so you might want to purchase a few fast growing trees and strategically place them on your property(landscape design will help)

Idea to build this sort of structure: fence at left would hide AC unit and then give the eyes a focal point beyond to the side/back yard and something pretty you'd place in the distance... :) someday a gazebo type/ or patio?

I would paint the shutters black and the front door a dark red ( current color is too purplish). Take out the large bushes and replace with new landscaping. Repaint the front porch, gray is ok color. Remove the lawn chair and make that a planting area.

As suggested, get a landscape plan and work on it as time and money permit. Remove weeds from driveway. Yes, the carport needs some refreshing, too. If you post pics of it you will get some suggestions.
