I would paint the walls a pale gray or a pale blue to make this room feel bigger. Adding a rug would definatly bring the space together, but I would get a rug that would be to have all the furniture on it. If you got a rug that only the table would fit on it would make the space feel smaller. I would also recommend definitely putting a mirror on the wall behind the two chair cause that will make the space feel bigger as well! I hope that helps!

Hi, I`m Rita. In order to make it look bigger, you can paint the walls in white, it will make the room much brighter.

It also will help to put the couch on the side where you have the two chairs, placing these two where the couch was. It will clear up the room.

Another trick that works miracles on resizing space is the use of mirrors from floor to ceiling. If you can afford it, then place a big mirror on the wall that is behind the chairs in the photo.

As for the rug , if you really want it, it has to be placed in the space sorrounded by the furniture, in clear and / or bright colours.

I can help with lighting. Do you have the ceiling light on a dimmer? That will give you more lighting flexibility. Another thing that's great for lighting a living room is a table lamp or sconce in each corner.

So pretty! I actually love your wall color and think that it works perfectly with your sofa and chairs. I wouldn't change it; I like that it adds drama to the room.

I would consider doing panels on the window and hang them very high to give the illusion of taller ceilings. I would choose the same color as your sofa color to brighten the space up.

Love the other suggestions of adding a mirror to the room to brighten.

BTW, your chandelier is beautiful. I really like the new arrangement of the furniture but not sure about it not being centered underneath the chandelier.

What about placing the sofa on the back wall, (where you first had the 2 accent chairs) the coffee table underneath the chandelier, and the chairs facing the sofa-floating in the room?

Remove the shade from the window and let some light in. The walls really need a nice color. When I first saw your pic I thought that the walls were cement. I would go with a warm color for the walls. Maybe you can find a rug and pull a color from the rug.

I would try the loveseat where the chairs are. You surely need tables and lamps. Lamp light is much warmer and more flattering than overhead lighting.

For the color on the walls, I think tans and a darker tan always look fresh and elegant. I would put the sofa where the benches are, a nice large picture above it, the chairs in front of the window, where the sofa was, the benches at the back wall, with a large mirror above, the desk can go by the chair on the left side of the large window. A large rug to anchor the room, just like 6" under the sofa and part of the chairs, I would add color decorations. I'm going thru a similar Selena with the carpet, I can't find what I want. Here is a picture of my space. I to placed a mirror above the sofa and love it. Good luck

I also think that one of the small tables between the benches and the other larger one between the chairs, the sofa has the coffee table in the front.

I think the diagonal layout is still viable if you move the ottomans out of the room and move the loveseat a bit more out of the corner.
