Have you ever considered removing the shutters?

HI -- You could do the shutters the same color as the top gable or black is always a winner . And do the front door a satin black . To make it look richer put some accents on the door such as a door knocker and maybe a kick plate and a new hardware set .and also paint the two vertical between trim pieces so the door and side lights are all one . Maybe some bigger hanging lantern style light fixtures and script house numbers or bigger house numbers . Just don't do green or browns because that will bring out the pink tones in the brick . You could also do a very dark navy on the shutters and a cobalt blue for the front door . "Polo Blue" by Benjamin Moore for the shutters .

I think white will be too much white. The garage doors are over to the right and they are already white to match the trim. I didn't know greens or browns would bring out pink...yikes.

The door handle is a heavy Baldwin brass. Since brass is back in, I thought of a good brass knocker and possible kick plate as well. The numbers on the side are hand painted tiles my parents bought back from from Spain. They are cemented on so I would have to destroy them to get them off and I just don't have the heart to do it . The new owners can decide on that one :)

It looks like black may be best. I will check out the various shades In Oaks :)

I would take down the shutters and do a black door but white sidelights

Interesting BeverlyFladeziner. You are the second to recommend taking off the shutters. Are shutters dated? Do more people prefer a clean look? I like the idea of white sidelights with a black door. I automatically assumed I should paint the sidelights the same. Thanks!
