Emergency repot

I picked up a lovely Adenium earlier this summer at Lucky Sumo and have been taking my time searching for the perfect pot. The fact that it was blooming meant I had a little time since I didn't want to spoil the show. Fast forward to today and my devoted pooch Oswald had a run in with the stand that the tree was perched upon and knocked it right out of its pot. So rather than finding a nice ceramic bonsai pot or something of the like, I had to go with what was on hand and use a Panterra bowl. Oswald is fortunate that he is so dang cute because I couldn't stay mad at him for very long.

Tracy, that's a beautiful Adenium. It looks old and weathered, almost tree-like.

Thank you Martin. It did have the perfect shape to it until it lost some branches on one side today. It does resemble an old tree now that you mention it. I really like the way the breeder strategically pruned the plant to develop the crown. This is one of my favorite plants.

It's beautiful, Tracy, and Oswald is darned cute! I love those eyes. :) What is growing around the base?

Thank you, Karen. That is some sort of bonsai grass that is put in by the breeder. I noticed that all 4 plants I bought from him had this in it. I like the appearance of it in this pot so I left it in when I repotted.

That is a beautiful plant, as has been said it's like a gorgeous tree. I can't help but laugh at Oswald. He is so cute you couldn't get mad at him. Love his name lol

Thanks for your kind comments, everyone. Oswald is just fine, he wasn't harmed during the incident. It is a good thing my neighbors were not outside when I discovered it because I might have let go of a few curse words in my dismay.

I am glad the tree only lost a few branches on one side, this could have been a greater tragedy so I consider myself fortunate.

Chris the grasses you see here are not wild. They were put into the pot intentionally as a form of dressing the tree.

Thanks, Sinha. Oswald is part Chihuahua and part Miniature Dachshund. He was adopted from a local rescue as a puppy.

Karen, I called the breeder, Peter McKee and surprisingly he was at the nursery today. He told me that the greenery in with the tree is most likely Dwarf Liriope. Also known as Mondo Grass.
