This is oak flooring that has been refinished using a clear sealer. It appears very light compared to most oak floors you will see because they have a yellowed, oil-based finish. We use a water-based product to avoid the discoloration that will occur over time. This is much like oil-based paint in old homes that has yellowed over the years.
