Argyle quilt started

Here are the top two rows of seven that will comprise my granddaughter's quilt. She chose all the fabrics to match a throw that she loves. She also picked the pattern. I was a little fearful that it would not turn out well, but I am liking it more and more. I messaged a photo to her, and she loved it. And that's all that counts, as any grandmother knows.

Here's the completed top. I was going to glue baste it last night, but we have company coming for dinner tonight, so I couldn't use our living room floor. My DGD Sophie is so excited. I made a matching pillow sham with some of the fabric I had left over. The backing will be the light coral fabric; the binding, the light aqua. I'll be quilting it with an overall meander (stipple).

Very argyle-ish, Lois! Our family has a lot of memories relating to argyle sox. Doesn't it just tickle us when our grands exhibit some very good choices? I think it's going to be awesome and she will love it!

She is going to really love it. It is beautiful.

A question about your spray basting. How do you deal with overspray on that lovely floor. This morning, I basted two kiddie quilts on the kitchen floor and as careful as I am, I still have to wash the floor after. (But only after my knees stop screaming!)

Theresa, I use Elmer's School Glue, so no overspray. I bought a can of 505 and have never used it for that exact reason. I am totally sold on the glue method. It never shifts, and I have never gotten a pucker in my quilts. You do have to wait for it to dry though.

I bought a garden kneeler that has sides so that you can kneel and help yourself up or sit on it as a stool. I've used it for quilting too. Here's the link - Garden kneeler.

Guess I had better learn to read. I saw glue baste and my brain said spray baste. And I use sponge garden kneelers but my knees still hurt.

I have to investigate the glue method further. I did buy some bUt havent figured it all out.

I had your post bookmarked but hadn't checked back after I posted. Was looking at my bookmarks this morning and saw the pic of your finished quilt.

Thanks also for the link to the garden kneeler...I need one of those. Having it as a stool would be a big help.

I use glue for all my quilts. There are a few tricks to glue-basting but it's my favorite way to baste quilts.
