Do you want an honest opinion? I think you're better off not putting anything there or it's going to be so narrow that you'll be falling over stuff. You want to keep hallways open enough that you can quickly get out in case of a fire, and the more stuff you have there, the more cluttered your house will look. If you absolutely have to put something there, that's one thing but don't fill up space to fill up space. Find some smallish [11x14"] pictures to go on the blank walls and call it good.

Haleydaniels-- actually, I think the reason it's taken me so long to do anything is precisely your point. I'm somewhat of a minimalist as is. I hate clutter. I'll slowly decorate, and just deal with the kids shoes in that one corner.

CAn you put something in your laundry room that will hold the shoe clutter?

I tend to feel like the area may be too small but if you remove the mirror from the one wall there may be room for a rack of some sort. Here are a few photos examples if you have the space
