Maybe I'm wrong but it seems a little awkward for the pool table to be the first thing you see walking in the door. Is there room the flip it and have the pool table where the conversation area is? If not I suggest putting the couch in front of the window, move the dresser/entry table to the opposite wall and put the white chair angled facing the couch near where the dresser/entry table used to be. If you could add a small round table next to the white chair. Add a large rug to the conversation area to anchor it and warm up the room. All you need after that is some kind of simple window treatment. Also a console table could be added behind the couch if desired to hold lamps or accessories. A coffee table or ottoman in the middle might be nice.

Center the pool table in the conversation area. Move the cabinet against the wall next to the french doors for a bar/snack spot for both areas. Lose the sofa. Replace it with several groupings of single comfortable seating with small 18" high tables placed in front of the bar, not in the pool table area. Put shelving and stools for three along one wall of the pool table area with cue storage next to it. Put a few colorful posters on either side of the window or across from the shelf/stools. Use lighting appropriate for playing pool and to light up that dark area. Also, turn lights on before taking pictures.

definitely move the pool table (even trading for a less bulky one if necessary) to the "front of the room", (the conversation area), built-in bookcases around window with a built-in window seat under the window or put drapes up to the ceiling, to the floor, the whole length of the wall looks nice for that size window unless you can replace the window with a larger one. Get two large complimentary (or matching?) rugs to "define" your areas. The floor is cold looking and then your "spaces" will be separated. I agree that the pool table should not be seen when opening the front door, maybe you could even bring the "drape" all the way around and create a "wall" at the front door to "hide" the pool table when it is moved out. If you can't hide it and move it to another room I would consider enclosing that space into a separate playroom. Bring the top of the tv down to the top of the art on the adjacent wall or even centered with the other artwork so that it looks more like it is sitting "on" the console (low)table Use a bolder color on your walls since you have the light floors and furniture, choosing a color from your new rugs and get some matching pillows. You could use some fabric on the furniture, like some throws, more patterned pillows. And definitely get some great plants in there!

I would actually move the pool table to in front of the front window where the small white chair is. It looks like you have some recessed lighting there already to illuminate the pool table. That way you are also not seeing it first thing when you enter the room. I love the current layout you have near the french doors so I wouldn't change that. But I would put a console table behind the white sectional and then flip the brown couch around to have it's back against the same console table (back to back couches essentially). Add some lamps to the console table and a very cozy, fluffy rug under the brown sofa. Add a few chairs opposite the brown couch and side table between them for a place to lay the drinks, etc. Also, a nice round upholstered ottoman in between the brown sofa and chairs would give you extra seating for large parties.For smaller parties, add some trays to the top of the ottoman and you have more places for those seated on the sofa to place thier food, etc. Great space BTW!

Okay, I think this room ultimately needs more light. This might cost more, but why not add another window? Some area rugs also might be nice. Overall, great space!
