Hard to picture but would be fun to see. I keep picturing corn kernels flying all over the place - a hail of corn! Which end does the drill bit go into and what catches the corn as it comes off?

Yes, you would think it would create chaos, but they posted a little video of him doing it and none of that happened. He put the drill bit into the large end of the cob. They had a clear tub, maybe around a 31 quart clear tub, under it and already had a lot of corn kernels in it. I'll have to check again and let you know, but I think he had the ear either in the bin or close to being into it. There was nothing flying out all over the place. If I can figure out how to do it, I'll try to post the video on here or have them do it.

Pretty funny. Here's some videos. For the kernels that fly away, just get a dog. Or shop vac those and toss them into the compost, bird tray, or still ;)

You got it, starsplitter! I'm doing my corn to freeze on the cob right now, but will pick up more tomorrow while the dog is at the groomers to do kernel corn to freeze. Why did I have to get so old before someone came up with this? Oh, and DH isn't pleased with the idea of me using his drill so I'll have to do something about that.

It would be easier with a cordless drill. Buy yourself a nice new Li Battery one while you're out. Why would DH mind? Nothing is going to go amok with his drill. You're making food for his family. I think it's a hoot. Sort of "cheating" though. Next up a Dremel or radial arm saw to snip the ends off green beans. Dear Birdseye...

LOL, bcskye, and I just did a whole bushel of corn today, with a knife. Where is my cordless drill, I wonder.
