Tacking an outdoor pillow

To make a long story short, I had to replace the covers on my outdoor sectional. The back pillow cushion of the new cover is about 8" taller than the cushion.

I decided against trying to stuff it with fiberfill for various reasons.

I want to fold it over on the back and tack it down to keep it from looking sloppy. I also want it to be temporary in case someday I need to turn the cushions around.

I thought about using a strong thread or fishing line and just tacking it on each end.

Is there anything else that might be better?

The fabric is outdoors and 100% polyester and is water resistant. The weave is loose so a thinner thread might not work.

The pic doesn't look the greatest...but if I pull everything taut, it looks good.
