Furniture layout for narrow sunken room

We have a fun sunken room off of our kitchen in our house, but we are having trouble figuring out a layout that uses it full potential. For now we have furniture from our previous home in it and it is pretty disjointed and could certainly be better.. We'd love help/advice - we'd like to leave the tv in this room and we have a new baby too.

It is 19 ft long and the narrow end is only 10 ft wide, the side with the TV is 15 ft wide.

The challenge for this room is figuring out a way to make it useful when considering the narrowness of the room, the step that runs the length of the room and not blocking and the sliding door.

Thanks in advance!

Ok, here's what I've come up with. I am showing the room at 15'W but I have the storage cabinets ending at 10'W. I thought the other side of the room could be a kid area. The table could be a kiddie table and then storage. You could put an area rug down for them to play on. Or this could be an entertainment space with a bar height table and chairs. And the storage piece could be a bar or buffet. You could also put a slim console table behind the love seat. Just need to watch the sizes of any chairs. I like the chairs because they have an open base and they swivel. Also try to get your tv up higher so if you are seated at the table, you will be able to see it.

Hope this helps!

Blessings...

You have plenty of wall space for the TV, so definitely remove it from in front of the windows. I'd replace the TV stand with a credenza that is 25% wider than the TV. "L" the two sofas out in front of the TV at the wide end of the floor. Do you have a dining area here? Could you use a dining or game table at the narrow end of the floor space?

Thank your for the advice, I like where this is headed. We have been reluctant to place anything in the path of the sliding glass door - even the half that doesn't open. Are there some guidelines for that?

We do have a dining area, right next to this room. A game table is a good idea.

Do you use the slider often? I would be tempted to place the sofa floating facing the wall to the left of the room with an area rug under the front legs & about 2 feet wider than the sofa. Place a media center against that left window wall (using the proportions of media center to TV that deco suggested. Place a coffee table or ottoman about 18" in front of the sofa. Add a sofa table behind the sofa w/ two lamps on it.

I like the idea of using the smaller side for the baby's toys with a rubber puzzle rug on the floor. Add a couple of accent chairs to the sides (toward the TV) of the sofa. Unify the odd-shaped windows with grommet top or clip top drapes hung the same height just below the ceiling down to the floor. These type of window coverings are easy to open & close when needed.
