If it's very old you're going to have a very difficult time finding this specific fabric as the mills are always printing new fabrics. I hope you have a plan B for your project?

Also you will never get the same dye lot. If the draperies are old they will for sure have faded, so you may be out of luck.

How old are the drapes? When did you purchase the home?

Usually the selvedge edge of fabric is cut away when making drapery panels, but sometimes it is not. Good fabric will show the manufacturer, color lots,etc along the white selvedge. Look under the lining where the seams are matched and you might find what you are looking for.

My draperies are similar in pattern...not exactly the same but similar. I purchased my fabric from Calico Corners and when I needed more fabric I found it again at JoAnn Fabric (much less $). Why don't you go to JoAnn's and see if they recognize the fabric. Also, try some of the online sellers to see if they recall that fabric. Good luck. Connie

I bought the house last year, and went through renovations. I need 2 extra panels. The previous owner told me that the curtains was new, but she had no use for it on her new place. One thing you might try is to lay it flat and take a good photo of it, then go to Google image search. Google will show you all similar images. I've been able to find other things this way. Anyway, maybe worth a shot.

Have you tried contacting the original owner to see where she bought/had them made? Your loan papers will have their name and you can do a search to try and locate them or maybe even your realtor may be able to help you. You could then give her a call or even send a nice note to her asking about the drapes, just a thought.

It looks rather like 1950s barkcloth. I recall that there were some new versions of it a decade or so back, for people restoring mid-century homes. Check barkcloth and see what turns up.

If the previous owner said they were new then she must have purchased them. Contact her and inquire as to who made them. Chances are it could be a chain or a department store like Penney's. My mom had her own drapery and slipcover business. Everything was custom. The quality of the drapes you have might indicate whether they're custom or off the shelf. Best advice is check to see if there's a selvage edge inside a seam. It will note the manufacturer, pattern, dye lot, etc. Good luck!
