My Boring Dining Room!

I would like this to have the same eclectic feel that my livingroom has. I want it to still feel relaxing when you are sitting around the table with guests. I guess I haven't been inspired to start it until I knew how my living room was going to end up looking like. I warn you...it is extremely bland!!

The orange Morph Medium vase on Wayfair looks like a contender to me, but I'm not sure how tall your current vases are.

indomom- The bright vase is 14.5 inches tall & darker vase is close to 15.5-16 inches tall.

The Morph medium is 19" tall and the small is the same size as the bright vase. I don't think you're looking for something taller than the 2 you have, right?

It could look good to have a taller one, but it may cover the canvas too much? I am going to go on Wayfair now to have a look at it:)
I'll look in a bit...the website is temporarily down.

I think 3 sizes no shorter than 12 (a fat one if it's only 12) and no taller than 17 is good. Definitely a clear one and I continue to think a smoke glass color would look great for the third. I'm thinking like tlparks - the bright colors in the room are nice but there are already a lot of them - please don't overdo it or it might start to look a little cheesy.

Oh wait - the orange morph small vase on Wayfair is very cool! Expensive, but great!

Maybe this one from World Market? Price isn't too bad. If you kept your dark one, paired it with this purple one and the small orange morph from Wayfair, it might be really cool. Really nice blend of sizes and shapes.

Here are a couple on big sales at sur la table website. The big one is only $12!

I think the sizes of these vases are pretty good, but I haven't paid too much attention to that. So, if any of them interest you, be sure to think the size thing through carefully.

I do like the orange morph vase...but a little pricey for one;) Ann- I like the tall clear & purple vase(do you know how much that one is?) & the top smokey colored one!

Can't remember Cher but I found it on the Cost Plus World Market website. I think the ones that look smokey are actually clear, but you can check them out at the various websites.

Out browsing around again! Do you like the clear glass or green vase. I put the blue one behind it because it's like my deeper purple one. I returned the lighter purple one:)
    Or this orange one...

I think I prefer the green to the orange...

wow this room is really looking good!

I had to run out of the store sooner then I expected. My daughters event didn't run as long as expected & had to pick her up;) I ended up buying the clear glass one. I wasn't sold on the orange either. I can always return the clear one, if it's not favored!;)

I would suggest the introduction of a patterned fabric. The dining room chairs could be recovered in something more colorful (a patterned fabric also shows fewer stains). Use one of the colors in the fabric for a tablecloth or placemats. Add more color in art and pillows in both the dining room and the living room. Choose art you like...don't pick it just because it matches something in your room. It can be modern, traditional or any style you will enjoy seeing for a couple of years or more.

I would vote for trying the green one over the clear one. The clear one doesn't seem to fit.

I'm not loving the shape of the clear one, but I actually like both the green and the orange ones. I think I'd return this clear one and buy one of those two (but not both) and keep looking for a clear one.

I've been out of the loop for awhile, but I don't understand why you're trying to put unrelated vases on the table. I would either find a set, or three that have something in common--color, pattern--with different sizes and shapes.

    These are sold individually:

These are large and unique and you'd only need one:

These are probably my favorite, also sold individually, but all on different pages:

And this one is probably too small for anything--only 4" tall--but it's very cute and not too expensive and might work as a tiny accent with one of the sets:

Grover- I really like the look of Ann's DR vase arrangement on her table! I'm after the same look, with not much success!!Lol
  • 10 years ago
I hope by the time I get back to return it...the green vase is still there! If not...I'll keep looking-haha!!

I love those white Spirit Stem vases that Grover found. The texture is really fabulous and you already have a lot of color going on.

I like the look of the Spirit vases too! What to do, what to do?Lol!!! I just want something on my DR table for visual interest, as it's the first room you see when you walk in the front door & it's not a room that's used everyday. Maybe a collection would be better, as I'm clearly not great at mixing and matching like Ann is!!haha;)

I think the spirit vases are great. The glass bottles are too matchy matchy to your art IMO.

Would the white clash with my white coloured walls? I love the purple vase though...if I went with a collection...where could I move the purple vase?;)
It meant to say clash with my cream coloured walls.

I think white would be fine. It's a bright white in your drapes, right?

Are the sizes of the white vases good. Just for info, because I know you like the look of my trio of vases, they range from 11-16" tall.

Ann- I absolutely love your trio of vases!! I can't seem to achieve the same look:( I may go with a collection of three vases, that way the guess work is taken away & they will lighten up the space. I like the texture on them too:) I can maybe add the purple vase to the kitchen or LR? The curtains are a white...but it looks cream up against the trim work.
Will the white ones look good when I get my chandelier with the black shades?

As long as the scale is good, not too small or too big, I think white would be fine - with the black shades too. But, be sure to check scale because the scale of your dark purple one is really good. I know you aren't easily finding mates for it, but you could if you kept looking.

Yay or nay? A second one for the DR?

It's nice for formal or evenings.

i think you really need a new light fixture, and that is what is throwing the space off....

I followed this whole discussion and every time I see the black/white vase with flowers on the buffet it feels wrong. The f!owers in the vase are competing with the flowers in the art. The vase is fine without flowers in it and has a more modern feel that way.

Do you have the new chandelier yet? I still like the trio of white textured vases the best.

A good large colorful rug would add a lot to the dining room.
It should be four feet wider and four feet longer than your table with all/any extensions included. It could be a two-color geometric pattern or any style which you really like. If it has two or more colors, you can select a new wall color from it. If the rug has a little bit of a brown color in it, you may not even need to paint. Don't get a brown rug. Your room needs some art, too, to add other colors at eye level.
I was waiting for someone to mention the chandelier again:) I am still planning on buying the Willow Park by Jeremiah! It was on sale a while ago & I didn't get around to ordering it. I'm waiting for it to go on sale again at Wayfair by 40%...this time I won't miss out;)

The brushed nickel with the black shades. Does everyone still like that one?

i dont think you need the colored vases on the table, the background picture is enough.. i know it needs something but they almost blend into the painting if that makes sense.

Yes to the nickel/black! Yes to textured white vases. :-)

I'm kinda questioning the black & white vase too. I love the vase & flowers but wonder too if it's the right place for it?
Indomom- I like the trio of white vases too. I think for simplicity I might get those:)

I think a trio of white vases is always nice.

im stuck trying to design this wall behind the television. ive added a pic of my husband and granddaughter on wall next to curio. my son recently passed away, my husband wanted canvas by the curio with our sons items inside.

Use the black frame as a center & put the others around it no more than 2 inches. Sorry about your son.
